SUNNYVALE, Calif.,– February 9, 2021 – Intrinsic ID, the world’s leading provider of Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) security IP for embedded systems, today launched PUF Cafe (at www.pufcafe.com), a website dedicated to advancing the state-of-the-art in PUF technology and ensuring it meets the evolving security needs of our data and devices for today and in the future. Intrinsic ID encourages security professionals from industry and academia, working with or interested in PUF technology, to join the community and help drive the evolution of this important root-of-trust security implementation for a wide range of vertical markets.
An ABI research report, titled 68 Technology Trends That Will Shape 2021, predicts that digital security will be a key area of technology investment for a wider range of markets. It highlights that traditional finance, enterprise and government verticals are not the only targets anymore; instead attacks are becoming more frequent and more sophisticated in areas such as connected infrastructure, smart healthcare, transportation, surveillance, industrial and processing facilities, monitoring devices, automotive telematics and smart cities.
“The fervent expansion of IoT connectivity and subsequent monetization strategies have revealed cavernous security concerns fueled by the lack of proper security standardization. With each passing quarter, the ever-evolving IoT cyberthreat horizon unleashes new attack vectors, costing the world’s largest markets tens of billions of dollars in damage,” said Dimitrios Pavlakis of ABI Research.
PUF is a fundamental security technology well-suited for a wide range of markets from banking, finance and the datacenter to mobile gaming, automotive and IoT. PUF secures devices without adding silicon real estate or cost while requiring minimal power and processing resources.
“Our goal with PUF Cafe is to create a neutral place for open and productive discussions on PUF technology including PUF-based key generation methods, and other state-of-the-art techniques in this domain so that PUF technology can evolve with the needs of the market,” said Pim Tuyls, CEO of Intrinsic ID. “With PUFs potentially playing an increasingly important role in securing our digital world - more collaboration is needed.”
The PUF Cafe platform is live now at www.pufcafe.com and anyone interested can sign up, free of charge. The website contains a variety of resources in the form of blogs, papers, and videos as well as will live, virtual events called PUF Cafe Episodes. The episodes will include short-form webinars with thought leaders, interactive Q&A sessions, online networking opportunities and forums to submit questions, suggest topics and steer the direction of the technology.
“Taking the initiative to launch PUF Cafe is the logical next step in the evolution of Intrinsic ID. As our portfolio of customers and partners is rapidly growing, we want to make the discussion about the status and future of PUF technology a two-way street,” said Pim Tuyls, CEO and co-founder of Intrinsic ID. “We very much look forward to hearing from semiconductor engineers and embedded designers about what matters to them. What are the security problems they encounter? What is the functionality they would like to see in future PUF implementations? By asking the community to chime in on what matters to them, we all benefit.”
Hence, Intrinsic ID invites anyone interested in PUF technology to go to www.pufcafe.com and become a member of the PUF Cafe community. With PUF Cafe, we can all take part in shaping the future of Physical Unclonable Functions.
